This Week’s Optional Exercise
Here’s a great exercise for avoiding the cliches your creative mind gets hung up on.
Take a sheet of lined paper and fold it in half long ways. Flip it over and write on what would be the right half of the sheet of paper if the paper wasn’t folded.
Start listing nouns they can be anything, for instance airplane, building, heart, smile, car, door…whatever.
Now flip it over to what would be the left side of the sheet of paper if it wasn’t folded and start listing adjectives at random, for instance, big, sexy, loud, crisp, hard, lovely, hideous… once again, whatever.
Open the paper. The random adjectives should be in front of the random nouns. It’s a great way to come up with an original title or concept. Give it a shot! See what happens!
This Week’s Video

“Dave Stewart, a musician and producer, offers advice to aspiring songwriters. Stewart suggests to just begin writing. The more you write, the easier you’ll be able to find a pattern in your creative process. He also advises having your work performed in a public place. It is a simple way to get feedback”.

It’s a short but informative interview.
