Lucinda Williams

“I’m always writing ideas down and then I stick ’em in my pocket and put ’em in that folder so I don’t lose them. Like, somebody might say something, and I’ll go, oh that’s a good line, and that goes in the folder, too. It’s kind of an ongoing process for me.” — Lucinda Williams

In this chapter we’ll discuss the more practical needs for songwriting. These issues are not unimportant and should be emphasized. Songwriting is hard work. It’s good and satisfying work, but it’s hard. Any tool or circumstance that might make the process easier should be considered.  Most of the suggestions are inexpensive, and you may already have many of them.

In addition, you’ll be happy to know that not everything in this chapter costs money.  Many are suggestions that involve procedures and techniques that will make your life easier, not just for the length of this course, but throughout your songwriting career.

Are you ready to get started? Well then let’s go!
